Postcards From Burleigh Heads - June

If sunshine, waves and a great time is what you’re after, you’d be mental to leave out Burleigh Heads on your bucket list. Situated on the (appropriately named) Gold Coast of South-East Queensland, millions flock here from across the globe to get a taste of the relaxed vibe, great nightlife and the rifling right-hander that breaks off the point.

With so much to do in Burleigh Heads and its surrounds, it’s impossible to throw everything into one Postcard, but if you ever find yourself here here’s a quick squiz at some of the must-do activities to fill your time in paradise.

  1. Surfing Burleigh Point

Between the pandanus trees on the South side of the beach sits a saucy right-hander that is world renowned for its long walls and great tubes year-round. Burleigh Heads remains one of the most well-rounded breaks in the district, as it caters for less experienced/younger surfers with the smaller waves in front of the Burleigh Pavillion as well as having bigger and more hollow waves around the point towards the National Park. Get on down to the point early to beat the winds and crowds and come see what all the fuss is about!

  1. Come get a bite at the Burleigh Pavilion

Right on the shoreline of the wave sits an awesome spot to enjoy a quiet drink or bite for lunch, all to be enjoyed while watching the local talent shred apart the peeling waves. With a huge menu and so much open space to enjoy, the Pav will provide a great time for you and your crew.

  1. Burleigh Head National Park

A short hike over the hill and you’ll be back in nature, at the Burleigh Head National Park. This gorgeous space will have you lost in trails and wildlife, broken apart only by stunning lookouts over the Pacific, Surfer’s Paradise and beyond. If you ever get the chance to wander through the park, you’ve got to get yourself down to Tallebudgera Creek, where a swim in the calmer waters is an absolute necessity!

  1. Burleigh Brewing Co

After a big day of cruising around Burleigh, a much-deserved local brew is essential. Burleigh Brewing Company has been pumping out the region’s favourite frothies for over 15 years, with a huge range of brews that cater to all patrons of age. Get in there on Friday, Saturday or Sunday for an evening of live music, great beer and good vibes; and don’t you dare leave without having a crack at the Burleigh Smokin’ Dark Lager, it’s nectar from the Gods.

  1. Visit Okanui Store

No trip to Burleigh Heads is complete without the perfect momento; and lucky enough for you, we’ve got the garments that are just what the doctor ordered. Right on the beachfront sits the Okanui store, filled with all sorts of clothing that’s been an Aussie favourite for over 40 years. Pop on in for a chat with Blair and you too can rock what the locals wear!
